Ian Fairgrieve
I’m a 45 year-old father of 5 children. I’ve been writing off and on for the last 10 years and decided within the last 3 years to pursue my writing seriously. I currently have 4 short stories published, 2 of which were published as part of a shared world post apocalyptic story called Remnants with a number of other authors that was the brainchild of Stephen Coghlan.
I’m in the process of editing a further 19 short horror stories that I hope to publish in a horror anthology in time for Halloween. Growing up I used to suffer from night terrors but over the years I have watched so many horror films that I’ve now become desensitised to horror so now my desire, the thing that drives my writing more than anything, is to write something that terrifies not only my readers but me as well.
I get most of my story idea inspiration from the world around me, whether it’s places I’ve been, song lyrics, people I’ve met or things I’ve done. All of my work though is original and comes right out of my twisted imagination.
My first ever story I wrote was a slasher novel called ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ and is based in a national park and my antagonist is a brutal cannibalistic serial killer. I’ve even begun working on the sequel to it.
I’m also heading up my own team of writers to write a shared world interdimensional fantasy that’s centred around the star signs and I have ideas for around 60 other short horror stories that I may even expand into novels at a later date.
