Fuck You, Mary Sue by Elton Skelter (Emerge #9)

Some people have it all; the perfect lives, perfect family, everything comes so easily. Some people can survive a massacre with barely a scratch.

Fuck those people.

In the wake of the Lake Sandower Massacre, with several classmates dead and one sole survivor, four outsiders start to wonder if there's a way to make that perfect person pay. In a new short story from horror writer Elton Skelter, we see what happens when you court the darkness, and what it can do to a person when you let it in.

"Fuck You, Mary Sue explores outsider teenage rage with sharp wit, timely commentary, and a heart that won't stop hurting." -Eric Raglin, author of Nightmare Yearnings.

Revenge story

There’s a slasher on the loose at Lake Sandower, and a group of school kids pay with their lives. Surviving the massacre is the Golden Boy Garrett, the guy whose family is rich, the most popular at school… the kid who gets everything he wants. The outcasts he has bullied are NOT pleased with his survival and take matters into their own hands. While more of a novella in length, there is great depth in the characters, and you really feel the pain caused to each of them by The Final Boy. The reader also gets to see the aftermath of their actions and how it affects the community and individuals. I would’ve liked to know more about the massacre itself and the theories on the murderer. It felt like we jumped into the tale midway through. I’ve really enjoyed Elton Skelter’s works, and this was another great story!

Enjoyed this read!

More than the slasher aspect of the story, I more enjoyed the aftermath. The emotional turmoil of the killers. The distance between them after they accomplish what they unanimously agreed should happen was felt in the quiet anguish the was expressed.

It is a LONG fall from the pedestal of Perfection!

What would you do if the final guy who survived the massacre just really didn't seem like the person everybody thought he was? What if you weren't the only one that thought so? How far would you go to prove to everybody that he really wasn't the innocent angel everybody thought he was? This book will answer those questions... and you definitely want to know... check this out! You won't regret it!

F*ck You, Mary Sue

Garrett is the only survivor from the Lake Sandower Massacre. As he recalls the event for the numerous news outlets, a group of students is watching his performance. Garrett is near perfect. Garrett is privileged. He has a bumble bee yellow Charger and people love him. This certain group of students not so much. They are over all the attention that Garrett gets, and they decide things are going to change. This book packs a punch. Not only is it gripping it’s a bit heart-wrenching. The decision the teens make is a dark one, and it all stems from jealousy and anger. Whatever happens, they will carry it for life. This part clearly never entered their heads and ultimately changed everything, even their friendship. Great read! F*ck you, Mary Sue is the ninth book in the Emerge series from D&T Publishing and Godless. If you haven’t read any of them, you are missing out. Each book is a standalone written by an emerging author; each one has been brilliant! Short reads that pack in some great details. Grab them all!

Fucking Great!

A small town massacre. A lone Final Guy sharing his tearful experience. A group of outcast high schoolers who loathe the Final Guy and his all around perfection. An impulsive plan hatched and enacted upon. A group of outcast high schoolers who loathe themselves. This rapid-fire story will keep you glued to its pages with a pit in your stomach as you realize what these teens are about to do, but you are unable to intervene. The theory that teenagers are unable to really think through consequences before acting is given substance here. The writing is quick and purposefully choppy as the reader is getting short snippets of thoughts from the main narrator. The experience is one of a mind filled with jealousy, rage, and a desire to belong, but, conversely, young, innocent, and gullible. As My Chemical Romance sang, “Teenagers scare the living sh*t out of me.” After raising a couple and a couple more to go, I couldn’t agree more.
