Uncomfortably Dark

Only left in stock

Amber had been looking forward to college life. She loved high school and was certain college would be even better, especially since she pledged one of the sororities on campus. At least that was what she thought until the night her soul was fractured, waking the darkness within her. Unable to cope, she returns home, hoping to heal.

Unfortunately, her hometown is wrought with brutal violence. People are being slaughtered in random fashion. The police are clueless. Despite the surrounding chaos, she is still determined to thrive. However, when the violence shows up at her front door and rips her life apart, she realizes that the darkness within her is the only thing that will keep her sane and alive.

Brutal and relentless extreme horror

Episodes of Violence by David Bernstein is a brutal and relentless extreme horror novel. Due to subject matter and graphic depictions, this one is for extreme horror fans only, those who can appreciate the darkness and violence and depravity of good extreme horror. That being said, it is a truly driving story, a solid story with undercurrents of psychological horror and ugly social reflection. But there is a lot more to the story than the synopsis suggests. So much more. There’s an entire twisted subplot of graphic violence and cruelty that is a main component of the overall tale. It’s complex, suspenseful, and horrifying in its own right, even as Amber’s story is brutal, horrific, and impactful in ways that will turn your insides. The characters are vivid and engaging and really disturbing. Indeed, with all its brutality, it is still a character-driven story, and it’s rather upsetting in many spots, so check your triggers at the title page. Five stars for a complex and horrifying story of the dark realities people wrapped up in violence that slaps you from the page. This refreshed rerelease of Bernstein’s is a hard but satisfying read. Extreme horror fans only.
