Avery Dalrymple III runs Le Petite Paradis, a ramshackle gay guesthouse in the French Quarter, alongside his ex-partner Parker and their former lover Mack. When Mack dies from AIDS-related complications, the uneasy household he leaves behind begins to attract visitors. Some come bearing grudges. Some come out of the property's troubled past. And one takes the form of a ghostly white wolf.
As Avery struggles with a failing relationship, Mack's grasping relatives, and his own increasing dependence on alcohol, the history of Le Petite Paradis begins to reveal itself through apparitions and accounts of those who lived there before him. The house remembers its former owners and the enslaved people whose lives were bound to it, and the boundaries separating past and present, history and haunting, become increasingly uncertain.
