Dont Go Into The Woods
Two kids enter the woods, no, It's not the start of a flowery, lovely kid’s story, and this story did make me laugh. Tony ends up having to bring his little brother Timothy along on an impromptu hunting trip, desperate to please his father with a prize kill. As you can imagine, the story takes a very sinister turn when Timmy is left alone by his big brother. Scared out of his mind by the monster story his brother Tony tells him, he takes up arms with the Remington (pretty gun) his brother stole from his father. Annnnnd I'm going to leave it at that you guys will have to get this intense story yourself. Joshua did an incredible job building tension and atmosphere, and I was hanging on till the horrifying twist at the end.
Nail-biter to the end
Amazing short story. Leave you with the feeling of "Holy hell." Loved every minute of it. Would be a great Urban Legend for any campfire. Looking forward to more stories and novels to come. Keep up the great work, Josh.
Classic Horror in the now...
This story has a classic story feel to it, and was comfortably dark. The bond between brothers, albeit outwardly awkward, was clear, but there was still an unspoken truth between them. The story unfolds in the woods, and who doesn't like darkness and uncertainty in the woods, with a gun? The ending took me by surprise, and the entire story was a quick read. I highly recommend this Macmillan story.
Watch Our For The Ripper!
Forests almost always have some sort of urban legend to them, and this one is no different! Beware the Redwoods Ripper, who kills children and dyes the trees with their blood! This short would make a great campfire story, it has that deep woods vibe going on and the ending is that perfect sort of twist that audiences love. The story is enjoyable, and anyone with a younger sibling will relate to having to drag them along when you want to do something alone.
