As the land withers under a changing climate and resources grow scarce, a hungry family confronts a dark legacy. An old storehouse holds an ancient secret: an imprisoned girl who can bestow bounties of food and prosperity. But in return she requires sacrifices.

Her ancient power contains the truth they must face. You can deny family, but you can’t deny blood.

Awesome!

“One last slaughter, he thought.” While short, this story definitely packs a punch! Perfect for fans of “Tender is the Flesh” by Agustina Bazterrica, “Bowery” by Matthew Vaughn, and “Meat” by Dane Cobain. In a drought stricken world, a young man and his mother encounter an otherworldly person who may bless or destroy their family. I really wasn’t sure where this story was heading, but was pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns.
