A young bible sales representative is one of the newest recruits at Increase Edmonds Bible Company. He goes door to door trying to sell bibles. He didn’t have much luck until he got to his last house. Just as he gets his hopes up for a sale, things quickly come crashing down. This was a quick but entertaining read. I enjoyed learning the dark history of Increase Edmonds Bible Company. I kept thinking the bible sales representative should have quit before he ever started. That didn’t happen though, and his job leads him to an older lady who spills some chilling info. Her last words left me a bit stunned. Talk about creepy! In fact, the whole story had a creepy vibe to it. Sometimes it’s not the people knocking at your door that you need to worry about, instead it’s the ones waiting inside.

A young man desperate for funds to pay off his college debts is encouraged by his parents to spend a day training to sell Bibles. It's here where we meet the company rep Mr. Bishop. Mr Bishop is a deeply religious and cruel character that gives of vibes of blood meridian's the judge character. We hear of the history of the town and of its founders, introducing us to characters equally troubling. This all leads to the man's first days selling door to door and a haunting climax. Immediate impressions of this short is the clarity of the writing and the strength of character of the antagonists especially. I would have preferred a longer last act but was satisfied with the ending. I look forward to seeking out more work from the author.
