Neil by Simon McHardy and Sean Hawker

Simon McHardy and Sean Hawker

Only left in stock

Neil doesn’t have much going for him. Still living in his mother’s basement, spending all of his free time eating fried chicken, watching horror movies, and working a dead-end job wiping ass at the One Oak nursing home. That is until he receives a demonic gift from an ailing serial killer that transforms him into a monstrous, tentacle-armed behemoth.

With his newfound abilities, Neil embarks on a killing spree with the intention of becoming the most notorious serial killer of all time. Maybe then, he will win the heart of his work colleague, Lindsay. But Lindsay has some secrets of her own and may prove not to be the sweet, delicate girl he thinks she is.

The Pampered Clam lol

Neil is a bit of a loser. He lives a pretty dull life in his overbearing mother's basement. Lives off junk food and horror movies. He has a job he hates at the One Oak nursing home, where he longs to win the heart of one of his coworkers, Lindsay, who has enough of her own problems and doesn't give him the time of day. While taking care of one of the patients in the home, he learns the patient's deep, dark secret. The gore in this is turned up to 11! weird, vile, and funny. The dastardly duo know how to entertain. Once you think it can't get anymore over the top, it does, and it's amazing. Once the story gets going, it doesn't let up. Another winner. They never disappoint. Check it out! 5 severed fingers out of 5

Not What I Expected (in a good way)!

*I'm not going to give you the 'what this book is about' blurb - you can read that elsewhere. 1. Honestly, this is not a book I'd have ever picked up on my own, but I wanted to join another Mothers of Mayhem buddy-read, and this was the book. I'm so glad it gave me the push into something that wouldn't have piqued my interest on my own because this book was GREAT! 2. Weird, not quite Bizarro, but almost...and brutal. As we've established, I love some brutality and Simon and Sean delivered with some wildly creative deaths. 3. The overall format of the book kind of reminded me of Woom - where there's one overarching story, but there are smaller stories making it up. It's not quite as pronounced as Woom since this is all taking place across one day, but each part of the day is told like it's own little vignette. 4. I despise Gwyneth Paltrow and her 'Goop Culture'. It's toxic and harmful and, well, this is neither the time or the place, but suffice it to say that whole group gets a comeuppance during this novel and ItWasSatisfying. 5. I laughed so hard at some of the imagery in this book. The combo of wildly inappropriate + gore + human emotions. Ugh, it's so good. Bonus -there's social commentary. A whole load of it. Some readers probably won't see it that way, but those readers are wrong.

Y'all gonna need Jesus after this

Every damn time! Every time you pair get together I have to contend with nightmares. Now I'm defiantly gonna be weary of creepy old men in a nursing home. The first chapter is brutal and disturbing, honestly, it made me feel so sorry for the horror that Lindsay has to face with daddy dearest. Loved the fact that the boys slid in some cult classic references, as well as the horror community well knowns being-made characters. I love the way the story flows, from Lindsay to Neil. The story also introduces us to Mr. Borev, a very interesting resident of the home who befriends Neil. Of course, the one friend Neil is able to make outside of his overbearing mother has to be a serial killer. Who gives Neil, a massive horror fan with deep-seated issues a mask he wore as the Bulgarian Fuckbeast. Yeah, this goes side ways such fast, and then it's a whole load of torture, gross out scenes, and sexual assault. Some scenes really do make your toes curl, as Neil does everything to win over Lindsay. In a way, they are kinda perfectly depraved for one another as both no how it feels to have overbearing parents. That is putting it lightly considering the disgusting shit that takes place in this story. I ended up wolfing down this bad boy in less than a couple of days, the reading group defiantly offers food for thoughts on various elements. This story is fast-paced but is a no way an easy read so I suggest not doing what I did and having dinner while blasting through the chapters. You will very much regret it, I know this is written by two authors but it feels so seamless in the way each chapter folds into one another. But as you go on it just gets worse, it's like these guys really wanna go hard or go home. The subtle details added to the story make for a more intense read, as you start looking for the Easter eggs hidden throughout. Man, I thought me, and Ash went a bit far with Your Move. After reading this I now know the possibilities are endless! Especially after the Vaginal steaming scene, which was particularly impressive. All in all, I need to know how long they have been able to mind meld and how I can attempt this myself.

Simon & Sean Deliver Another Gross Out Tale!

I feel as though Simon and Sean are a genre all of their own. Many times not feeling like Horror at all, or even extreme horror, but a gross out fest. With that said Neil is a very crazy story that cannot be justly given a short synopsis. The absurdity of the story makes it intriguing, and many chapters will leave you with bile in the throat. Neil is a special kind of screwed up story that can only come from the mind’s of McHardy and Hawker. I really enjoy these stories with a bit more length to them, and Neil is definitely an interesting one.
