The title says it all, really. This collection of seven stories by Robert Essig is, in order, sick & twisted, sick & bizarre, sick & nasty, sick & wrong, sick & awesome, sick & horrifying, and straight-up sick, dude. Sick! Sick! Sick! is for extreme horror fans only. It’s a sick collection of sick little stories to twist your mind, your intestinal fortitude, and your self-image when you laugh at stuff you realize you probably shouldn’t have. I do not want to know what it says about me that I enjoyed this collection (“Blowout” was my favorite; great plot, fantastically written, some underlying poignancy). These stories range from basic sick premise (as with “Wrapped in Plastic”) to brilliant (the aforementioned “Blowout,” but “120 Days” has surprising poignant depth as well) to gut-wrenching on an evocative level (you don’t expect that with a story titled “Blood Expectations,” but yeah, wrenching stuff). Essig’s cleverness and diversity in writing never fails to impress. His ability to inspire thought, engage emotions, and turn one’s stomach, sometimes simultaneously, is one of the things that puts him high on my list of go-to authors. Another such thing is he is a fantastic storyteller. Extreme horror fans will love the stories in Robert Essig’s Sick! Sick! Sick!.

Sick and twisted indeed

I have become a big fan of Robert Essigs short stories and this one did not disappoint, I couldn't put it down as it filled my head with visions of sick and twisted imagery, a fine evening in my opinion.
