Mr. Dark & Scary by R.K. Latch
In the summer of 1957, in the small town of Farmington, Mississippi, a jilted lover takes her own life on the courthouse square one early morning. Only one person tried to stop her, the courthouse janitor.
Mark Borden is a simple man. He works a simple job and leads a simple life. Until he walked up to the pretty girl just as she ate the business end of a pistol. Shocked and startled, he stumbles back too far into the road and is hit by a car.
Mark is sore when he awakes later in the hospital, but he’s suffered no significant damage. As he returns home alone, he thinks that maybe he did die and just maybe he brought something back with him.
Within weeks a murder spree unlike any other, sweeps through the town. The local law is outmatched and can’t even identify a suspect. State police can’t offer much help, as they have their hands full with a group of missing children, all girls of the same approximate age and appearance. No leads, but every week or two, another goes missing.
Odd occurrences begin to plague poor Mark. With no one to turn to, he tries to figure out what is happening to him. He thinks he knows. He thinks there’s a demon inside him. And that demon wants to be set free.
