Excellent!

Demons and boogymen and Ry'leth oh my!! Packed full of supernatural creatures, it will grab you by the throat and not let go. This is a book that gives you everything you didn't know you wanted in a story. Twila is a shape shifting private detective with a demon possessed cell phone and a no nonsense attitude who will worm her way into your heart. Cosmic horror sometimes feels to me like I'm not smart enough to understand it, but Collins wrote a cosmic horror story that's easy to digest all while giving you an adventure you don't ever want to end. Easily one of my top books of this year!

Great cosmic fun

I immediately loved the vibe of this book, first released 10 years ago, Mick has given it a few tiny tweaks to tidy it up and rebirthed it back into the world. A creepy, fun, sometimes gruesome cosmic horror full of awesome, badass characters and a shit ton of cryptids! This book reminded me of the JDATE books, which are always a great time. Bizarre, bonkers and bloody brilliant, I loved every word of it! There were some hilarious one liners too that had me howling out loud! The story itself has a fantastical feeling of dread, fear and chilling surrealism, like a creepy and unsettling dream. The mystery and intrigue keep you completely gripped throughout and Mick doesnt give away any more than is necessary, when it's necessary!! He's a bit of a tease like that! Twila is a Private Detective’s assistant, a true take no shit badass, oh, and a shapeshifter. With a possessed phone! The company she works for investigates the supernatural and the paranormal because these things are everywhere, and they are never shy of causing grief and chaos. The Shades lurk in every corner, they want Twila to track someone down for them, but they aren't the only ones. Twila heads off to the Dark Quarter with Kevin, the receptionist, to hunt down Janae, who seems to have several targets on her back. Janae however has had a rather horrific joining with a demon, and is ultimately rather fucked! But, she has left a lot of unanswered questions in her wake and it's up to Twila and Co to figure out just wtf is going on. What happens when humans interfere where they are not wanted, when a fun little prank to turn opposing sides upon each other, to pit them against one another, goes horribly wrong? When Ryleths and Demons go to war, even worse then, when it's all cryptids out for themselves… could it be the end of the world, or just a huge lesson needing to be learned?! This story is a huge amount of fun, it will hold you captive, creep you out, make your stomach churn and, you'll laugh your face off!
