The Dead Girl by Daemon Manx
Mark and Lizzy are fighting a losing battle. They have struggled with addiction for years, but the beast has gotten stronger. Their love is but a band-air on a terminal wound that one day will surely kill.
After a forgotten Friday night of hitting the bag, Mark wakes to find Lizzy’s lifeless body in a tangle of bedsheets. Now, she continues to walk the floors of their apartment as if she has an urgent message to deliver. Mark struggles to interpret that message as he frantically tries to figure out what to do about her body before it is too late. Unfortunately for Mark…it already is.
This is a tale of addiction, overdose, ghosts and heartbreak. Beautifully, haunting and emotional. An eerie love story!
Awesome read! I highly recommend this one
One of my favorites from a master author
I have read most of Daemon Manx. This is one of my favorites. One of his many talents is to write such powerful settings and descriptions so that you instantly care about the characters in the story. I hate to pick a favorite of his works, because I love them all, but this one is very special. It’s unbelievable how within a few opening sentences I’m already inside the story, but that speaks to his authoritative mastery of world-building. Lizzie and Mark are truly unforgettable characters and you will find you need to re-read their story many times, as they will pull on your heartstrings and won’t let go. Most highly recommend! This story won multiple awards so far, and I’m sure there are more awards in its future. Brilliant, masterful writing. I can’t wait for his next release.
