Becoming by Lucas Milliron
Cody thought he'd seen enough monsters. From the bullies, to his broken father; all Cody ever wanted was a normal life.
Just as things are looking up, the monsters came back, and unleash something inside him. It's always been there, waiting behind his eyes. It's changed him, and he's not alone.
Becoming is a twisted coming of age horror thriller. There are monsters hiding inside us.
After all, if you don't like the skin you're in, change it.

Not what I expected
I love when you really don't know exactly what the book is about and then BAM you get this amazing story. I'm very much looking forward to the next book.
Gods, Monsters, and Humans
"Gods, monsters, and humans. You're all just paper people caught in a wildfire you don't even know about. It's okay; I understand. Sometimes it's easier to sleep at the wheel." There are those inner demons that lurk inside us, experiences that crush our souls and linger there for ages. Cody has gone through a tough life, from being bullied to grieving and trying to make a life of his own at a young age. When a terrifying event happens at his place of work and he loses even more, what lurks inside of him begins to surface. He must learn to control it, to accept it, and trust those who are like him; for he is Becoming. A combination of humanity shifting to mythological creatures and the origins of old. A battle within ones existence and without, learning to accept both for what they are and follow where the path leads. There is some beautiful prose written throughout, the kind that had me going back just to reread a sentence. I enjoyed the main story and the eventual unfolding of the secrets that lie within, leading up to what was truly happening. An all around captivating story of what lurks beneath the surface.
Monsters Just Beneath The Skin
I became enamored by Becoming from the first page. The story is fast paced and does not let up, even on the final page. This book benefits from going in blind, so try to stay away from any spoilers! The less you know, the better the experience. Cody’s life has always been full of monsters, from the bullies that torment him to his alcoholic, broken father. In this story you’ll follow Cody as he learns what lurks inside of him just beneath the skin. This coming of age horror is just the start of an epic story that I can’t wait to sink my teeth into. There’s a monster inside of all of us, but for some those monsters are all too real.
