Great Halloween tale, a seasonal classic!

I was impressed with this tale of lore, myth, and the underlying darkness that comes from it. Lucas mentions he typically writes "splatterpunk", but in this tale, he stepped outside that form of storytelling, and the shoe fit. This was a dark, descriptive piece of fiction, that gives everyone a break from the extreme nature that is "splatterpunk" and it was refreshing to read. Keep the shoes on for awhile, Lucas, and entertain another audience, but only if the shoes are comfortable. This was a great read and should definitely be a Halloween read, every season.

Poetic and powerful

I really loved this story. It reminded me of some of my first experiences reading Ray Bradbury, in that the writing was both poetic and impactful with a strong love for the Halloween season throughout. Bone Cider is a fantastic story. I highly recommend it!

Something different

This had better be a set-up for something...because it should be something awesome!

Creepy and Atmospheric

Lucas Mangum really shows off in this short story. For many readers, we know Lucas as a splatterpunk author, but he turns that notion upside down. This story is creepy, but still has a deep seeded level of emotion. Death, discovery and family are explored in this story and Lucas creates a coming of age tale in only a handful of pages. Oh, and he used my name in the story, so that's pretty badass .

Creepy and unexpected

I love horror stories in which anything supernatural is ambiguous. I love unreliable narrators. Pretty much, I love horror that leaves the story up to my interpretation. And that's what Bone Cider did. Plus, it was set at Halloween, making it ideal for the season.
