Everyone’s haunted, most of us just don’t know it yet. We may feel the chain binding us, but aren’t aware who or what it is binding us to. Some of us – like Harry – wish they hadn’t found out.

An encounter with ‘Bull’, his old tormentor from high-school days, reignites a hateful obsession for accountant Harry, with fatal consequences. Yet it is not this death that comes back to haunt Harry, but an older, buried memory returning to life.

Good stuff

Harry was out having lunch with Jenna. When he notices someone familiar at the bar, it turns out it is his high school bully, Bob 'Bull' Robbins. This chance meeting sets off bad memories and feelings that he had swallowed down all these years. Now they have resurfaced, and now he is obsessed; that obsession has led to murder. This story from the Emerge series gets in your head and rattles around even after you finish it. A well-told tale that will make you think about those days in high school, whether you were bullied or knew someone who was bullied.Definitely check it out. 4 served fingers out of 5

Still chained

A refreshingly unsettling tale of self-deception and layers of subtle cruelty, which got under my skin and raised discomforting questions that have plagued me after reading and prompted me to write this (rare) review. The story made me question reality, my own morality and past (mis)deeds - not bad for 50 cents! I have a feeling I will be chained for quite some time...
