Gregory Laine inexplicably resurrects during his funeral and surprises his close friends and mourners. Almost immediately, he is captured by iASK, the institute for Abnormal Scientific Knowledge, an ultra-secret organization. The scientists/doctors, led by Dr. Lori, experiment on him relentlessly. Being an Undead, Laine discovers some new talents and uses them to escape. He takes vengeance on those who caused his “death.” However, he has trouble eluding iASK, until he discovers their secret. At this point, to be totally free, he must sacrifice something precious.

I, Zombie

Gory comes back from the dead and surprises several people with his return. We follow along as he becomes an experiment, takes some revenge, and plans his escape. Engkent put a nice spin on this one. I’m not usually a fan of zombie books but I enjoyed the POV on this one. It was entertaining to see everything Gory went through and what he was willing to sacrifice.

Zombie Love Making

Smart, hungry zombie out to change the world. With a hunger for fresh boob meat and revenge on the mind, this tale a zombie with a plan it a lot of fun.

A New Take On An Old Monster

In the same vein as Isaac Marion’s Warm Bodies, I, Zombie: A Different Point of View tells the story through the eyes of the resentful deceased-turned-undead. That’s about where the similarities end. Where Marion went towards romance, Garry Engkent decided to turn zombies on their head and give them intelligence and sentience. As the name of the novelette suggests, this is an entirely new point of view with a brand new narrative for zombies. There’s so much to talk about and it’s hard not to without spoiling details you’ll want to learn while speeding through this. There’s lots of twists and turns, and readers are even rewarded with a little undead lovemaking! I found I, Zombie enjoyable and am looking forward to more from Engkent in the future!

This was so good!!

A different spin on the zombie trope and I can't believe how much I loved it. Normally I only give 4 stars for short stories but this one blew me away. It was fun and gory and a little funny with a couple of twists. Read it, you won't be sorry!
