Sonja Saunders has a shadowy secret. Wounded and scarred both physically and mentally by an unimaginably horrific incident from her past, like a stigmata, her marks are a constant reminder of that awful ordeal. And the one she was forced to worship. Regrettably, Sonja’s torment has shaped her into the woman she’s become.

Today, her life consists of a daily quest for distractions; searching for things that might lure her from those other, darker, cravings. Knowing of no other way to take away her pain, this dark and often angry goth-girl thrives on self-torture and pain. In the process of establishing a solid escape plan from the hell she's come to know as life, everything’s suddenly skewed when Sonja meets John. It’s ‘Love at first sight.’ Will the new man in her life prove to be a pleasant distraction, saving her from certain despair?
