Nostalgic 90's Horror!
When I saw the opportunity to get an ARC of this anthology on BookSirens I could not click fast enough! That cover! The throw back to the CD's we all had in the 90's with all of the best hits of the year! And horror stories set in the best decade ever?! Yes please! And Chelsea Pumpkins did not disappoint with this collection. It was so fun, so nostalgic, so good! I was sitting there reading these scary stories with a huge smile on my face because each story had so many references to some of the greatest stuff from my favorite decade. Grunge music, Tickle Me Elmo, Tori Amos, that annoying sound we all had to listen to while logging into the internet, "You've Got Mail", the list goes on and on! Aside from the nostalgia, there are some really good stories here. Who in the World is the Hat Man had some seriously scary moments. Caution: Choking Hazard was a horror story about the Tickle Me Elmo and Cabbage Patch Kids toy craze that was insanely entertaining. But my two favorites were The Grunge and Return to Gray Springs: Blockbuster Blues. The first a fun coming of age zombie/ grunge rocker story, the second a Lovecraftian horror set in the basement of a Blockbuster. Even if you weren't alive in the 90's this is still a great collection of stories, but man if you were, you're going to love this! Definitely recommend! Thanks to BookSirens for providing me with an ARC, this is my honest review.
