Caretakers is the last of four Godless-exclusive short story collections from Horror and Dark Fantasy author Carmilla Voiez. The ebook contains two short stories: "Caretakers" and "Departures". Both stories consider the often toxic ideals of romantic love through an LGBTQ lens, and uncover the dangers of clinging too tightly to the ones we love.

Caretakers – Jack and her girlfriend, Alice, arrive at a remote island in Scotland where they plan to spend the next seven months taking care of a manor house and its guests. At first, Jack believes that isolating Alice from her friends will strengthen their bond, but when the manor house weaves a seductive spell on her beloved, Jack must fight to protect both Alice and their relationship.

Departures – There are times when our emotional baggage becomes too heavy to bear. When a woman witnesses a transphobic attack in an airport bathroom, she must choose between overcoming her fear or wallowing in her own traumatic past. This short story was first published in Unspeakable Horrors 3: Black Rainbow Rising.
