Doc Showalter ”is” a podiatrist with OCD and on his travels, he (and we) meet Dorothy, a waitress with a limp. After going back to his hotel for a orthopedic, things get a little messy. Meanwhile, Virgil is doing what he does best, ridding the world of people. During a road trip that neither one of them will forget, relationships are discovered and childhoods explained. O.K., so the synopsis is for the boring folk, let’s get down to the good stuff! This one is bloody (especially one scene. It also has my biggest fear in life.). Benetti channels his inner Flannery O’Connor and Stephen King. MIOTLR mixes a scathing take on religion, how childhood trauma manifests in adulthood, and well, how people are just too naive and even bigger pieces of shit. I have said it with every story of his but this one… this one will be hard to unseat. When you take characters and pay them homage in new and creative ways, you got me. NUMBER ONE FOR BENETTI!
