Zombie Santa Claus: Chainsaw Edition is the third story in the brutal and bloody Zombie Santa Claus charity series by the talented Astrid Addams, and it’s a horrifying good time for a good cause. I love how this one shows definitive continuity of the series but can be read as a standalone, if you must (but seriously, read the other two). I also love how this one firmly steps over into Splatterpunk with brutally in-your-face subject matter on classism, bigotry, and bullying and how they are perpetuated, as well as having the graphic splatter we all expect with Zombie Santa Claus. Chainsaw Edition is a seriously engrossing and poignant story that will move you to anger, test your intestinal fortitude, and make you feel and think things that are not entirely charitable. That being said, the book itself IS a charity novella; proceeds go to Bacchus Residents Rescue for small and exotic animals in the UK. This is an excellent holiday Splatterpunk read for a very worthy cause. Highly recommended.

This was a really quick, brutal festive read….with a chainsaw thrown in for good measure (I love a chainsaw!) There are several of these stories, this is my first, but won't be my last! I can't say too much without giving things away as it's such a short read, but it's full of action and horror! Rob is a lifer, and he's also dying of cancer, which makes him take risks he might not normally take. He has a young penpal called Innocence, on the outside. They've become great friends over time. Innocence is a refugee with a troubled past, and he is plagued by chillingly horrific nightmares. When he lets slip that he would love a Zombie Santa Claus for christmas, to make all his problems disappear, Rob is more than happy to oblige and make his dreams come true. Terence is a nasty bully, he's awake early on christmas day to open his presents, but there's something else waiting for him, and it's not going to leave him feeling very festive, or feeling much else, other than pain and regret…. A trail of Christmas carnage is left in Zombie Santa's wake, and a man called Doyle is following close behind. Festive fuckery abounds in this graphic, short, sweet, gore filled, fast-paced, well written, fun, and blood soaked jolly jaunt!

First off, a big thank you to Astrid for sending me a copy of this to review! Well, the holiday season is here, and Christmas is fast approaching! Kids are getting excited for their Christmas gifts. There is one child, in particular, who has a very special wish: that Zombie Santa Claus will come and save his mother and himself. The boy's name is Innocent. For the past two years, Innocent has taken part in a program that has ordinary people become pen pals with inmates. Through this, he has gained an unlikely friendship with an old lifer who is dying of cancer named Rob. Rob will do whatever he can to make Innocents wish come true. I went into this story completely blind. I have to say I was completely blown away. There is so much more to this story than my little synopsis. It's much deeper than it appears to be. This is the first story I have read by Astrid, and I immediately bought more of her titles the minute I was done reading the story she sent me. Great storytelling. I cannot wait to see what else she has in store. On top of that, all proceeds go to Bacchus Residents Rescue, a small animal rescue in the UK. If you haven't read her stuff, you need to. She is not to be missed. Instant fan. 5 severed fingers out of 5

I've read each part of the Zombie Santa series from Astrid Addams and have been impressed with the variety in each tale. This year's offering is yet another bloody festive tale that keeps you hooked and guessing from the start. Plus the money goes to charity so get on it!
