THE UNWELCOME TROLLS by Levi A. Than is a timeless dark tale about an unusual—and extraordinary—band of trolls known as the Flop Ears.
Because they’re a tiny bit different from other trolls, enemies drive most Flop Ears out of their ancestral homeland of Gomfi, a narrow strip of oak forest between a creek and a pond. Sadly, generations in exile don’t get any better for the outcasts, where some particularly vicious trolls, the Sharp Teeth, slaughter half their population.
With nowhere left to go, many Flop Ears try to return as refugees to their native Gomfi and rejoin their long-lost kin. Yet the Long Legs, a neighboring troll empire now occupying part of the oak forest, do everything in their power to stop Flop Ears from coming home to share the land. When the desperate band proves impossible to keep out, Long Legs make it their life’s goal to push every last Flop Ear into the pond.
But this time, with their very existence at stake, Flop Ears have had enough. And, despite most of the world wanting them dead, the unwelcome trolls dare to fight to reclaim that one small patch of forest they can truly call their own, where they hope to someday live in peace.
