Chased by cannibals through an Amazonian jungle, an archeologist takes refuge within an old pyramid, only to confront an evil worse than the man-eaters without.

You see, inside the pyramid is a little old lady who collects books. But hers are not standard editions. Each putrid publication in her sickening study is so disgusting that nobody can flip through one without doing a rainbow cough.

The librarian makes a deal with the archeologist: if he can read just one retched record from her bibliotheca of bile, she will help him escape the cannibals. But if he tosses his breakfast, he will become their lunch!

The horrible hardcover he must read is a gory history of American servicemen on Guadalcanal in World War II, who collect the skulls of dead Japanese soldiers. This abominable account is a narrative so nasty that there’s no way he’ll be able to cram it all in without regurgitating everything he’s learned.

Can you read this book without throwing up? Do you take the challenge?

I Wave My White Flag At Savage Headhunters

The Librarian rears her ugly head once more, deep in the bowels of the Amazon. Appearing before a travelling anthropologist in his time of need, she gives him an option for escaping the indigenous tribe chasing him. If he is able to finish one of her disgusting books without a drop of bile escaping his lips she'll take him away from this place, saving his life. If he spews his lunch, she'll leave him forthe tribesmen to devour. studying the titles in her collection, he decides on a nonfiction book he feels he can stomach, titled "Savage Headhunters". J. Manfred Weichsel's satirical take on events in World War II couldn't have been executed more perfectly. Taking this story at face value, one gets a crude caricature of events and important figures of the time. the crassness, racism, and bigotry are very in your face and could very well make someone vomit! But looking between the lines, each uncomfortable chapter teaches you more and more about the real life horrors human beings have inflicted upon each other. Horror and disgust doesn't always have to come from ingesting foreign fluids or someone being disemboweled. The racism, misogany, and war crimes depicted in this book made me cringe much more often than some of the biggest names in extreme horror. I absolutely loved it.

A Cannibal Holocaust Feel

Horror Bookworm Reviews Tales To Make You Vomit: Savage Headhunters by J. Manfred Weichsel https://horrorbookwormreviews.com/ A professor of anthropology is on a sabbatical in the Amazon studying the rituals of cannibalism. He soon finds himself in “hot water” while associating with an aggressive indigenous tribe. After barely escaping with his life, he enters an unknown old temple full of books. Trapped within its walls, he meets The Librarian and accepts an offer he can’t refuse, to read one of her disgusting books without puking…then he may leave. Searching the archives the professor chooses a nonfiction book within the History section entitled Savage Headhunters. J. Manfred Weichsel bases his gruesome story on the savagery of isolated tribes and historical events of war. The tragedy involving American troops landing on Guadalcanal takes a disturbing turn when two Americans decide on collecting gruesome Japanese war trophies. Weichsel has invented a new genre of Historical Extreme Fiction. His take on the declaration of war narrated by journalism and photography is a fine line between reality and imagination. I was not expecting how much of an impact Savage Headhunters would have on me while indulging in the author’s grisly scenes of bigotry and racism. Fear, anger, pain, humiliation, colonialism, war propaganda and misogyny all round out a Cannibal Holocaust feel to Savage Headhunters. Having a good amount of secondary strands supporting the main plot, Weischel goes much deeper than one might think. Combining factors of a land where laws don’t exist to numerous wartime violations, raw cruelty makes this an unforgettable intense read. Bottom line…the cycle of revenge has been going on since the beginning of time. Covering all aspects of human society, J. Manfred Weichel’s history will make you feel uncomfortable while allowing a lesson to be learned. I strongly suggest waving your white flag and surrender to read this book. A five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation.
