Enter a world where needles are sexy and knitting is deadly...
Camille and Brad are sock-puppets trapped in a dusty old attic. One day they find needles, and Brad teaches Camille how to knit sensuous and arousing patterns... but what begins as a journey of sexual awakening leads to the unravelling of Camille's perfect world in a strangely twisted nightmare of obsession and betrayal.
It's a good yarn
Colleen Hoover, move over. (Please note that I've never actually read any of her books so taking liberties here) I don't read short stories unless their subject really stands out, and this story was one of them when i came across it on Godless. I love quirky shit and this one promised sock puppet erotica, so i thought it would be rude not to! What I found was an unexpected metaphoric depth that knocked my socks off (pun intended). All I'm saying is that I'm really happy i grabbed it because it is just plain brilliant. "I am the right sock for you, as you are the left for me"
THIS….WAS….GENIUS! Cute, sinister, unique, glorious genius! Brad and Camille are confined to the attic, but they are so in love with each other, they're more than happy there among the dusty boxes of wonders. Until a box of knitting arrives, complete with needles, and a whole new experience for them both. When they accidentally create a little something, it tears them apart and they go their separate ways. Later, when Camille realises just how much she loves and needs Brad, she goes looking for him. But Brad has moved on! With the only thing to eat being the insects roaming the attic, things take a bizarre turn, and the family eventually grows so much closer to one another again, probably the closest they've ever been! Always knit with a pattern, not just with passion! A delightful and darkly disturbing yarn! Completely chilling!
4.5 star puppet...erotica?
…what?? Okay, this was one of the weirdest things I’ve read, and that’s saying a lot. It was like an erotic telenovela but with knit items...who knew sock puppets could be so devious and erotic? And why am I sweaty?! P.S. I hate Brad.
How horrifically wonderful! I’ve read erotica and horror but never together, before now. I will never look at my knitting needles the same, after reading about Camille and Brad.
The sock puppet horror smut I never knew I needed
A huge thank you to Jamie Kort for providing me a copy of this ridiculously charming story! A Puppet Scorned was everything I didn't know I needed, and then some! I never thought I'd read a book about sock puppet horror smut, but I had such a fun time with this book. While this story may be about sock puppets, Jamie has written it in a way that you can easily envision this happening to a couple as well. The ero-knitting had me in stitches (pun totally intended), and I kept adding cheesy 80's horror sounds when certain reveals were happening. You know the ones.....classic horrified woman screaming, discordant string instruments, shocked gasping. It made my reading experience so fun and entertaining, and I'm so glad I read this book! If you're looking for a quick read that will make you simultaneously laugh and be absolutely horrified, you've come to the right place! It won't have your gut twisting in anxiety or your heart racing in fear, but it'll give you chills of the what if and the possibilities that this story presents. A Puppet Scorned is a true gem, and you don’t want to miss out on it.
