"One's word of honor is all we have as humans. It's what separates us from the beasts." – La Abuela

The second shard has been found in a quiet village near the California-Mexico border.

For three years, the Black Jacks have travelled to La Caza to buy marijuana and then distribute it across the west coast.

The empty streets, heavily guarded entrance, and reclusive matriarch of the village suggest there is more going on in La Caza than meets the eye.

Pleased with their loyalty and effectiveness so far, La Abuela offers the one-percenters a new deal: exclusive distribution of a drug that will change the landscape of the country and catapult the small biker gang to kings of an empire.

The drug is Sifen. The year is 1959. And the roots of these characters travel deep into The City.

Excerpt from the Forward

Tales from The City is a series of individual stories, clues to something bigger. At first, they may appear as enigmas, unconnected and out of order. However, they introduce new characters and settings vital to the grand finale. Luckily, they have splintered into somewhat self-contained pieces, which I hope are entertaining in themselves, while still drawing you further into the larger mystery of The Labyrinth.

Excellent Story!

Went into this blind and I was not disappointed. I will be looking for more of this series from S. C. Mendes. This installment gave me just enough to want more, rich characters, vivid settings, and chilling situations. 4 stars!
